The First 2017 Goose Fair Meeting
Firstly, thank you to those who came to the Goose Fair meeting on 24th November and also to those who sent apologies. This was a really productive and informative meeting with lots of suggestions for a ‘new look’ Goose Fair in September 2017. The general consensus was to have much more of a ‘Country Fair’ feel to the event with lots of activities and games for both adults and young people to enjoy. However, in order to make this happen we need a lot more volunteers so if you are interested and can offer some time either in the preparation or at the event itself please contact either Mick Maidens or Sue Maidens on 01233 740097 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. We agreed that the 2017 Goose Fair would take place on either the 10th or 17th September. We hope that there will be the following attractions amongst others:
Family Fun Dog Show
Tea Tent, Beer Tent and BBQ.
Small funfair including carousel.
Challock Goose Fair lottery.
Approximately 150 stall holders with a ‘Country Fair’ theme.
Approximately 30 interactive game stalls which will include tombola’s, Pluck the Goose, Take Your Pick and many more.
Main Arena with displays throughout the day including the Challock School
Football tournament
As mentioned above, in order to make this happen we will require a lot more help. At the present time, and I am sure this list will change over the next few weeks and months, we need YOUR HELP with the following:
Gazeboes - Does anyone in the village have a gazebo we could borrow for the event itself? If so please let either Mick or Sue know the size and whether this is a ‘pop up’ or ‘manual assembly’ type.
Raffle Prizes – Would you like to donate a raffle prize? If so please get in touch.
Helpers – WE NEED AS MANY VOLUNTEERS AS POSSIBLE
The outcome of the meeting was extremely positive and we are now in the research stage. Several volunteers are busy collecting information and costs so that we have a much better idea of the amount of funds and time we require to resurrect the Goose Fair.
There will be a further meeting on Thursday 26th January 2017 at 7.30pm in the Audrey Allen Room. The final decision relating to the 2017 Goose Fair will be made at the meeting and, if we do decide to go ahead, the Goose Fair Committee elections will take place.
Mick and I both feel really positive about this new venture but we cannot do this without the help of the local community. All the local clubs and the primary school will benefit from the funds raised so it is important that as many local people/businesses/clubs get involved and make this a real community event.
PLEASE GET IN TOUCH if you can offer some support so that the 2017 GOOSE FAIR is as big a success as its predecessors
