Clerk’s Report
Landscaping
The Groundsman has installed a replacement dog bin in Church Lane
The Goundsman has strimmed along Canterbury Road and Church Lane
Landscape Services have carried out a full back up cut of The Lees
The Groundsman will remove section of tree on The Lees damaged by storm on 18th July
Highway Issues
The Groundsman has filled potholes on all three Lees tracks
Clerk reported overgrown and blocked PROW’s to KCC PROW officer

Play area
The Goundsman has strimmed around and tilled the play area
A section of the front play area fence has been temporarily secured and the Groundsman will provide a quote for replacing the rotten posts
The RoSPA report is awaited
Correspondence
Email from resident regarding blocked and overgrown PROW’s. Clerk has reported to PROW Officer
Leahurst Deed of Easement for Land Registry has been signed and returned. Noted
Email Insurance documents received from Came and Company. Noted
Email play area audit from Ashford Borough Council. Clerk read ABC comments to Councillors
Letter from Girlings regarding legal costs recovery. Clerk updated Councillors
Planning applications
Application to be discussed at meeting
The Paddocks, Faversham Road, Challock, Ashford, TN25 4BQ
Erection of a replacement detached dwelling
Councillors discussed and considered this application and fully support.
Land between Dorset Bungalow and The Paddocks, Faversham Road, Challock, Ashford
Outline planning permisssion for the erection of six dwellings with access and parking with all matters reserved for future consideration.
Copies of emails from Lucy Davies given to Councillors.
Councillors considered and discussed Lucy Davies’s comments and felt that their original decision and comments were correct.
The application however, has since changed on Ashford Borough Council planning officer recommendation from 8 to 6 dwellings and is due to go to the Planning Committee in August 2014.

To demolish existing double detached garage and replace with a single detached dwelling
Copy of email from Steve Kingston and officer assessment sheet from Ashford Borough Council given to Councillors at meeting.
Mr Kingston attended the meeting to answer any questions regarding his planning application. He confirmed that he has submitted an appeal to Ashford Borough Council.
Councillors discussed the application again and were satisfied that the application meets the essential and advocated minimum standards. Councillors are now happy to support this application.

School Summer Fair
The School held a successful Summer Fair on Wednesday 2nd July
Boot Fairs
The Youth Club boot fair was held on Sunday 13th July
The Cricket Club boot fair will be held on Monday 25th August
Roger Spicer confirmed that the Cricket Club would like to hold a firework event on the Lees in November 2014. Clerk to check with Parish Council insurers.
The Fire Brigade will have to be advised and an events licence from Ashford Borough Council obtained.
The grass on the Lees would also have to be removed and replaced if there is a bonfire.
Service at war memorial
Clerk has arranged with Reverend Paul Radcliff that a short World War 1 commemorative service will be held at the war memorial at 2pm on 3rd August
A251 Buck Street – temporary overnight road closures
A251 Buck Street will be closed from the roundabout junction with A252 Canterbury Road southwards for approximately 75 metres on Friday 8th August and Monday 11th August from 8.00pm through until 5.00am both nights
Challock Flower Festival
The Flower Festival at Challock Church will commemorate World War 1 this year and will be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend
UKPN Wayleave Agreement
UKPN would like to revise their wayleave agreement as they have revised their route. The new route will mean there is less disturbance caused to The Lees
Chairman Roger Spicer signed the new wayleave agreement. Clerk to return this to UKPN
PROW Issues
Clerk reported overgrown and blocked PROW’s to KCC. These have now been cleared
Mid Kent Water
Clerk reported water leak and poor reinstatement of trench on The Lees outside Leahurst following installation of water meter. These have now been repaired
Stephen Brandon informed that the trench for a new water main at the Beech Court end of the Lees has sunk and needs reinstating to the original level. Clerk to report to South East Water
Trees on The Lees
Envirocology Ltd has carried out the first round of tree works
